Land Registry Records (B&S 11) show that Jeremiah Bettes purchased 100 acres of the north west part of Lot 14, Concession 1, Cramahe Twp., from William Campbell. Campbell had obtained the Crown Patent for all 200 acres on 13 June 1801. Bargain and Sale bearing date the ninth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seven at Cramahe in the County of Northumberland, District of Newcastle and Province of Upper Canada made between William Campbell and Jeremiah Beatys of the aforesaid Township of Cramahe, yeoman, ...... being one hundred of the north end of lot number Fourteen in the First Concession of the Township of Cramahe ...

Jeremiah Bettes to Daniel Lawrence - Reg'd 22nd June 1810 at 3 o'clock P.M. on the oath of Matthew Goslee (Signed by D. McRogers, Registrar ...
Whereby Jeremiah Bettes and Molly his wife for and in consideration of the sum of seventy pounds of lawful money of the Province of Upper Canada to them in hand paid at or before the execution of the said Deed by Daniel Lawrence of the Township of Thurlow in the Province aforesaid yeoman. ... containing by admeasurement one hundred acres more or less being composed of northern most part of lot number fourteen in the First Concession of the Township of Cramahe ...

Land Registry Records (B&S 209) show that Jeremiah Bettes (Beatys) sold 175 acres of Lot 7 Concession 1, Cramahe Twp. to Samuel Comstock for 375 pounds. ... by and between Jeremiah Beatys and Mary his wife, of the one part, and Samuel Comstock, late of the Township of Bloomfield in the County of Ontario in the State of New York, yeoman, of the other part. ...... Witnesseth the said Jeremiah Beatys for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and seventy five pounds lawful money of this Province to him in had paid by the said Samuel Comstock ...... that certain tract or parcel of land situate and being in the aforesaid Township of Cramahe containing by admeasurement, one hundred and seventy five acres, and being composed of so much of the first part of Lot Number Seven in the First Concession of Cramahe including the broken front of said lot therein ...

... by and between Jeremiah Beatys and Mary his wife ... from the Deed for sale of land. A pervious Deed showed Jeremiah's wife as Molly. Were there two wives or is this the same person called by diffent names?
